Dear Friend of the Yakima Rotary Food Bank,
Most of us have never known hunger beyond the mild pangs we experience waiting for our holiday meal. Many of the people we see at our food bank every week are not only hungry in the moment but also don’t know when they’ll have a next meal, let alone a holiday feast.
At the Yakima Rotary Food Bank we provide food to over 700 families every Friday. Some wait several hours to receive meat, vegetables, fruit, cereal grains, bread and dairy products enough to feed their family for the following week. Some individuals we see regularly but more often we are seeing new people who need food for their families.
One morning a young man asked me “how does this work?” He had lost his job and with the money he had available would be able to feed this family or pay rent but not both. We gave him food, and his reply was as soon as he could he would make a contribution to the food bank to help others.
We have been providing such nutrition in our community for over 50 years, every week. We can do this thanks to ongoing support of friends like you. You can help us with a financial donation by mailing a check in the enclosed envelope or by scanning QR code below. (or visit https:\\www.donorbox.org/yakima-rotary-food-bank-operations-fund) As of this writing, we are in the process of developing a new website, which we hope to launch at the beginning of the year.
We are also always in need of volunteers, especially those available on Thursday or Friday mornings. If you’d like to volunteer, please contact us at office@yakimarotaryfoodbank.org or at the number below.
Thank you for helping,
Patty Dion
