We live in an amazing community
Support for the Food Bank shows we care about our neighbors!
Since 1971 we’ve been providing food to everyone who comes to request it every Friday, 52 weeks a year. Hunger does not take a vacation. We benefit from great support in the community through volunteers, food donations, and monetary donations.

Donate Food
Many of our donations come from people like you, living in ordinary households. Next time you buy too many of something at the store, or clean out your cupboards and find items you forgot about, please consider donating them to the food bank. Don’t let “best by” dates deter you – we can use many items past those dates. Better still, make it a habit of buying one or two extra somethings every time you go to the store, and set them aside for your neighbors who may not have enough.
We use most any kind of donated food, provided they come in packaging suitable for selling (original store packaging.) We also accept donations of home grown produce, unpackaged. Canned and dry goods have the longest shelf life, but we accept and distribute pretty much anything that people need. Contact us, if you have questions about donating food.

Host a Donation Drive
If your business or organization would like to help eradicate hunger in our community, consider putting together a food drive at your next event. You can let your employees or members know that we’ll take any non-perishable donations, provided they are packaged for retail sale, and even past the “best buy” date.
We can provide boxes for you to use in collecting the donations, and when complete we’ll come pick up the donations. Or you can drop tbe donations off and we’ll make sure the food gets into the hands of people who need it. We’ll also be happy to provide a public thank-you on our website and through social media acknowledging your donation.
Please contact our office at office@yakimarotaryfoodbank.org, if you’d like to sponsor a food drive.

Volunteer
The YRFB benefits from the work of some 50 volunteers every week.
We primarily need people on Friday mornings from about 8 to about noon. Also Thursday mornings from about 9 to noon, when we do most of our prep work for Friday.
The only requirement is a willingness to help our neighbors in need. Some of the work requires lifting and moving boxes full of food, but other jobs require very little physical effort.
