Thanks for your interest in helping the Yakima Rotary Food bank. There are many opportunities to volunteer.
It is also a rewarding experience knowing you are helping out the less fortunate in our community, and are doing so in the company of others who have the same desire to give back to their community.
Our volunteers come from around the community, from all walks of life, and range in age from 16 to — well, we don’t check IDs on the other end! We think you’ll enjoy working with others at the Yakima Rotary Food Bank, which is why we say volunteering at the Yakima Rotary Food Bank is FUN!
- We need volunteers primarily on Friday mornings from about 8 until about noon, and it is particularly helpful if you can commit to that time more or less regularly.
- We also need some volunteers at other times, such as Thursday mornings, but the bulk of the work is done on Fridays when we open our doors to over 600+ households who come needing assistance.
- The work involves sorting, moving, and distributing food, and at times helping our clients choose from our available options for the week. We sometimes also have specialized tasks needing to be done, so please let us know if you have a particular skill set you think would be helpful.
- Bilingual English/Spanish speakers are especially needed.
- Help us tell our story through numbers and words.
